Amazon Prime Video announced that the Week 16 showdown between the Los Angeles Rams and Seattle Seahawks will be the first “Thursday Night Football” game featuring two 11-win teams.

The Rams and Seahawks are both 11-3, though the Rams have already clinched a postseason spot. Los Angeles holds first place because of a 21-19 victory on Nov. 16.

However, the Seahawks are not mathematically eliminated from winning the NFC West, with the most straightforward path being winning out. Seattle would finish 14-3, and Los Angeles could not have a record better than 13-4 in that scenario.

Seattle can lock up a postseason berth — its first under head coach Mike Macdonald — by beating or tying the Rams on Thursday night. Alternatively, the Seahawks would clinch a playoff spot if the Detroit Lions (8-6) lose or tie at home against the Pittsburgh Steelers (8-6) on Sunday afternoon.

FanDuel Sportsbook lists the Rams as 1.5-point road favorites (+100; bet $100 for a $200 payout) as of Tuesday, Dec. 16.

What to Know About the Rams and Seahawks Before the NFL Playoffs

The Seahawks last made the postseason in 2022, when they lost to the rival San Francisco 49ers in the wild-card round. Seattle has not won a playoff game since 2019, when it notched a 17-9 road win over the Philadelphia Eagles before losing to the Green Bay Packers in the divisional round.

Seattle would be the No. 5 seed and play at the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the wild-card round if the playoffs began today. Tampa Bay defeated Seattle, 38-35, in Week 5.

As for the Rams, they are in the driver’s seat to lock up the No. 1 seed and home-field advantage. The Rams have not been the NFC’s No. 1 seed since the postseason expanded to seven teams in 2020.

If the Seahawks finish atop the NFC West, the Rams could be no higher than the conference’s No. 5 seed. The Rams own the head-to-head tiebreaker over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who currently lead the NFC South, because of a 34-7 Los Angeles victory in Week 12. However, the Carolina Panthers hold the head-to-head tiebreaker over the Rams because of Carolina’s 31-28 upset win in Week 13.

FanDuel gives the Rams (+350) and Seahawks (+700) the league’s two best odds to win the Super Bowl. The Rams last won the Super Bowl after the 2021 season, while the Seahawks’ most recent championship came in February 2014.
