Chicago weighs options as a proven deep threat considers his next move in free agency.

With training camp just days away, all eyes are on Chicago as Ben Johnson prepares for his first camp as head coach. Johnson steps into a pivotal role, aiming to set the tone for a team under new leadership. While the anticipation builds on the field, behind the scenes, the front office is quietly exploring key additions that could bolster the roster ahead of the 2025 season.

According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, former Chargers wide receiver DJ Chark recently visited the Bears. 'Former #Chargers WR DJ Chark, one of the top veteran free agents available, recently visited the #Bears, sources say,' Rapoport reported. At 28 years old, Chark is taking a measured approach to his next move.

Kyle Odegard of Sports Casting reported Chark saying, 'It depends. The situation has to make sense both for my family and from a football standpoint. Jumping to any team just for the thrill isn’t the goal — I’ll always love the game, but right now, finding the right fit that puts me and my family in the best spot is what matters most'

A former second-round pick by Jacksonville in 2018, Chark’s breakout came in 2019 when he posted 73 catches for 1,008 yards and eight touchdowns en route to a Pro Bowl nod. Injuries slowed him in 2021, but he remained a sought-after option, flashing solid production during his time in Detroit and Carolina before a quiet stint with the Chargers due to a hip injury.

He logged over 500 yards in both Detroit and Carolina, adding five touchdowns in 2023, showcasing his value when healthy.

Chark’s visit signals Chicago’s intent to add a vertical threat capable of stretching defenses—a move that could pay dividends for an offense seeking balance and explosiveness in 2025.
