Pro Bowl DT Gerald McCoy wants to return to Buccaneers?

Tampa Bay drafted defensive tackle Gerald McCoy in 2010 and served as his NFL home through the 2018 season. McCoy was set to make his Dallas Cowboys debut last fall but suffered a ruptured quadriceps in training camp and was released via an injury waiver clause in August.

The six-time Pro Bowler told SiriusXM NFL Radio on Monday that he's on track to be “full go” for this year's training camp and would like to return to the reigning Super Bowl champions.

"I would love to come back to Tampa," McCoy explained, per Josh Alper of Pro Football Talk. "A lot of people kinda misunderstood what took place between me and Tampa. They think it was he left or Tampa released him. Nah, there was more to it to that. All the issues I had with Tampa, we worked out last season when I was with Carolina. . . . There’s no bad blood. I talk to (general manager) Jason Licht, I talk to (owners) the Glazers."

Whether or not the Buccaneers would welcome a reunion involving the 33-year-old is unknown. Like many teams, Tampa Bay is currently dealing with salary-cap concerns that could result in starters leaving via free agency and signing elsewhere when the new NFL year opens on March 17.
