Pro Bowl RB on teaming up with DeAndre Hopkins: It would be 'epic for the NFL'

Dalvin Cook, released this month after six years with the Minnesota Vikings, has an interest in joining forces with fellow free agent DeAndre Hopkins.

Speaking Monday on The Adam Schefter Podcast, Cook said of Hopkins, "If we end up on the same roster, that would be something epic for the NFL."

The probability that Cook and Hopkins ink deals with the same team this offseason is highly improbable. While each may no longer be in their prime, the Pro Bowl pairing has amassed north of $143M in career earnings and won't come excessively cheap.

Cook, who turns 28 in August, has made it clear he's in no rush to sign a deal as he waits on the right situations. Since his release, the South Florida native has been connected most prominently to the Miami Dolphins, who lack a true top-back in their Raheem Mostert/Jeff Wilson-led backfield. The Denver Broncos and Dallas Cowboys have also been rumored as potential landing spots.

Riding four consecutive 1,000-yard rushing seasons, Cook is third to only Derrick Henry and Nick Chubb with 5,024 rushing yards since 2019.

As for Hopkins, the 31-year-old recently visited the New England Patriots. In Foxborough, Hopkins could provide quarterback Mac Jones the first true No. 1 receiver of his young career. Pairing Hopkins with free agent signee JuJu Smith-Schuster could give New England one of their better receiver duos in recent memory.

Hopkins also took a trip to Nashville one week ago to meet with the receiver-needy Titans, who continue to seek a viable replacement for AJ Brown nearly 14 months after trading him to the Eagles.
