Pro Football Focus recently pointed out the most underrated player on each NFL roster and they went with an obvious choice for the Buffalo Bills.
PFF singled out wide receiver Khalil Shakir as Buffalo's most underrated player.
Shakir is a former Boise State standout who was selected by the Bills in the fifth round of the 2022 NFL Draft.
The California native has been solid for the Bills over the last two seasons -- especially in 2024 when he caught 76 passes for 821 yards and four touchdowns. Shakir also caught 18 passes for 174 yards in Buffalo's three playoff games last season.
From PFF: Shakir has been a stable contributor for the Bills’ receiving corps over the past two seasons, and he stepped up significantly in 2024 in Stefon Diggs‘ absence, leading the team in targets (115), receiving yards (995), PFF receiving grade (80.1) and yards per route run (2.20). Shakir placed in the top 25 for the position in all of those categories.
He has also been one of the most effective receivers with the ball in his hands, averaging 7.7 yards after the catch per reception since 2023, which is tied for the sixth-best mark among wide receivers.
Buffalo thinks so highly of Shakir that they didn't go out and target a true No. 1 wide receiver in either free agency or the 2025 NFL Draft (the Bills' biggest wide receiver addition was Josh Palmer).
It wouldn't be a surprise to see Shakir take another big step forward in his development in 2025.
