As NFL teams furiously trimmed their rosters from 90 to 53 players on Tuesday, a number of former Missouri Tigers made the cut.
25 former Tigers were on rosters this preseason. 13 remain on active rosters after Tuesday's cuts.
After being drafted in April, rookies Armand Membou (New York Jets), Luther Burden III (Chicago Bears), and Marcus Bryant (New England Patriots) each made their team's respective rosters. Membou, who was drafted seventh overall, is projected to start at right tackle for the New York Jets. Burden, a second-round selection by the Bears, should see significant playing time in Ben Johnson's offense.
Former Mizzou quarterback Drew Lock made the Seattle Seahawks 53-man roster and is expected to backup Sam Darnold. After averaging 4.6 yards per carry this preseason, Tyler Badie was one of four running backs the Denver Broncos kept. He'll be joined in Denver by cornerback Kris Abrams-Draine.
Other former Tigers to make 53-man rosters include Arizona Cardinals defensive end Darius Robinson, Kansas City Chiefs linebacker Nick Bolton, and San Francisco 49ers defensive tackle Jordan Elliot, all of whom are expected to start.
Four former Tigers will begin the season on reserve. Rookie linebacker Johnny Walker (Denver Broncos), cornerback Ennis Rakestraw Jr. (Detroit Lions), and offensive tackle Yasir Durant (New England Patriots) will begin the season on injured reserve. Linebacker Jaylon Carlies (Indianapolis Colts) is on reserve but designated to return.
Former Mizzou quarterback Brady Cook and wide receiver Theo Wease Jr. were among a number of undrafted players hoping to latch on with teams. Cook and former Tigers placekicker Harrison Mevis were waived by the Jets. Despite registering 10 receptions for 104 yards and two touchdowns this preseason, Wease Jr. was waived by the Dolphins. Former Mizzou running back Nate Noel was originally signed by the Dolphins as an un-drafted free agent, but was dealt to the Colts three weeks ago and waived on Tuesday.
