QB Jameis Winston: 'I don't want to be viewed as a loser'

Quarterback Jameis Winston came into the NFL with high expectations and his career to this point has been disappointing.

After throwing a league-high 30 interceptions last season, Winston was not re-signed by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and is now a backup behind Drew Brees in New Orleans.

But Winston told B/R Mag's Ty Dunne that he still sees himself as a winner in this league.

"My entire life, I've been a winner," Winston said. "Little League football. Middle school. High school. College. Obviously, the NFL is a little more difficult. But I've been a winner. I don't want to be viewed as a loser. It's going to come. It's going to happen. This is something I've been fighting for my entire life. Building up to this."

Winston, 26, is immensely talented but has struggled with consistency in his five NFL seasons. He was the No. 1 overall pick in the 2015 draft and threw 30 TD passes last season. However, the Buccaneers did not make the playoffs during his time under center and he leaves Tampa Bay with a 28-42 record as a starter.

That said, Winston isn't close to giving up on his career.

"If people think I'm just going to lay down and give up because of a few losing seasons, that's never going to be the case."

According to Winston, he will be returning to his old ways of winning and fans should expect nothing less.

"Expect to see the national championship, Rookie of the Year, Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback being the best version of himself, taking care of the football, bombing the ball down the field, throwing touchdown after touchdown, leading the pack and being cool as the other side of the pillow," Winston said.
