QB Kirk Cousins reveals how much longer he hopes to play

Cousins just wrapped up his 13th season in the NFL, which means he could be eyeing a two- or three-year deal this offseason. Whether or not that will be with Minnesota, however, remains to be seen.

The Vikings are projected to have just $24.91M in cap space, according to Pro Football Focus, and are preparing to give All-Pro WR Justin Jefferson a contract extension that could reset the market as well.

Minnesota may not feel comfortable handing Cousins, who will be 36 at the start of next season, another big deal either after watching him tear his Achilles in Week 8.

The Vikings will still likely be interested in Cousins but could very well be outbid by other teams interested in him. Since joining Minnesota in 2018, he has passed for 23,265 yards, 171 touchdowns and 55 interceptions.

As a result, the four-time Pro Bowler is expected to receive a three-year, $118.14M deal ($39.3M per year), according to Spotrac.

Cousins did add that he could play more than 15 years since he wants to make sure his kids remember his playing days, but that is a decision for another day.

"We were thinking 15 years and then maybe from there you kind of go year to year," Cousins said. "I wanna play long enough that my two boys, who are six and four, can remember it and have been a part of it."

Cousins is surely hoping to contend for a Super Bowl before hanging up his cleats, which is something he will strongly consider when deciding where he wants to play for the last few years of his career.
