It's no secret the New York Jets need an upgrade at quarterback for the 2026 season, we're just not sure who they'll ultimately acquire this offseason.
The Jets made a notable change to Aaron Glenn's coaching staff this Wednesday, hiring former NFL head coach Frank Reich as their offensive coordinator. He'll come to New York with a 41-43-1 record. Although he's been away from the league since 2023, he did coach Stanford this past fall.
"Frank has a rare combination of experience, creativity, and calm under pressure," Glenn said in a statement. "He's lived this game from every angle — as a quarterback in this league and as a coach who's led offenses at the highest level. He is unique in his ability to see the game for what it is right now and adapt when appropriate. Frank understands offense and how to utilize the strengths of players. I am looking forward to how he will help this team have success."
Shortly after the Jets announced this hire, SNY insider Connor Hughes mentioned Arizona Cardinals quarterback Jacoby Brissett as a potential trade target this offseason.
Brissett started in 12 games for the Cardinals this season, completing 64.9% of his passes for 3,366 yards with 23 touchdowns and eight interceptions. Although he put up great numbers, the team went 1-11 during that stretch.
While it's tough to sell Brissett as some sort of franchise savior for the Jets, his experience with Reich can't be dismissed. They were on the Indianapolis Colts together from 2018-2020.
If the Jets aren't sold on any quarterback prospects in the upcoming draft, they could potentially call the Cardinals to see what they'd want in return for Brissett.
Brissett is set to have a $4.8 million base salary for the 2026 season. That's a very affordable number for any team that potentially acquires him.
