Quarterbacks go 1-2-3 in these latest mock drafts

Let the NFL mock draft season begin.

From now until the 2024 NFL Draft on April 25 in Detroit, the "experts" will release mock drafts on an almost-weekly basis.

This is your one-stop shop for the latest predictions, including the first five in the first round, players rising and falling and surprise picks and potential trades.

The experts highlighted this week are NFL.com's Daniel Jeremiah and Bucky Brooks and Yardbarker's Seth Trachtman.

Pick No. 1 (Chicago Bears)

Daniel Jeremiah, Bucky Brooks, Yardbarker: USC QB Caleb Williams

Williams is the favorite to hear his name called first on the first night. The 2022 Heisman Trophy winner threw for 8,170 yards, 72 touchdowns and just 10 interceptions from 2022-23. The Bears may trade out of the No. 1 pick and stick with QB Justin Fields, but here they unanimously reset with the most talented quarterback in the class.

Pick No. 2 (Washington Commanders)

Daniel Jeremiah, Bucky Brooks, Yardbarker: UNC QB Drake Maye

Maye is the consensus No. 2 pick after passing for 7,929 yards, 62 touchdowns and 16 interceptions from 2022-23. He is still raw, with just two years of starting experience, but the Commanders could sit him behind his former college teammate, Sam Howell, until he is ready.

Pick No. 3 (New England Patriots)

Daniel Jeremiah, Bucky Brooks, Yardbarker: LSU QB Jayden Daniels

Daniels makes it three straight quarterbacks to begin all three mock drafts. The dual-threat quarterback threw for 3,812 yards and 40 touchdowns and added 1,134 yards and 10 touchdowns rushing in 2023. A new era is beginning in New England with Jerod Mayo as head coach. Drafting the 2023 Heisman Trophy winner to be the next quarterback feels like a no-brainer.

Pick No. 4 (Arizona Cardinals)

Daniel Jeremiah, Bucky Brooks, Yardbarker: Ohio State WR Marvin Harrison Jr.

Arizona may get the steal of the draft if Harrison Jr. falls. The son of Hall of Fame WR Marvin Harrison posted 144 catches for 2,474 yards and 28 touchdowns from 2022-23. Harrison Jr. would be the No. 1 receiver QB Kyler Murray's has been missing and draw comparisons to Cardinals legend Larry Fitzgerald.

Pick No. 5 (Los Angeles Chargers)

Daniel Jeremiah: Washington WR Rome Odunze

This is the first disagreement of the these mock drafts. Odunze could be a home-run pick after the Chargers' whiff on WR Quentin Johnston (431 yards, two touchdowns) in the draft last year. Jeremiah's "favorite player in the draft" had 167 catches for 2,785 yards and 20 touchdowns from 2022-23. He would allow the Chargers to move on from veterans Keenan Allen or Mike Williams if the team struggles to stay under the salary cap.

Bucky Brooks, Yardbarker: Georgia TE Brock Bowers

Bowers would upgrade QB Justin Herbert's arsenal as well. The playmaking tight end had 175 catches for 2,538 yards and 26 touchdowns catches from 2021-23. He has drawn comparisons to four-time Super Bowl champion TE Rob Gronkowski and would perfectly fill in for Gerald Everett, who is a free agent.

Players on the rise

Daniel Jeremiah and Bucky Brooks: Alabama CB Terrion Arnold (Pick No. 12 to Denver Broncos)

Jeremiah believes Arnold could "go as high as fifth overall" after posting 63 tackles, one sack, one forced fumble, five interceptions and 12 passes defensed in 2023. Both experts have Arnold as the best cornerback on their draft board and think pairing him with Pat Surtain II would create one of the best cornerback tandems in the league.

Yardbarker: Penn State DE Chop Robinson (Pick No. 12 to Denver Broncos)

Robinson had 15 tackles, four sacks and two forced fumbles in 2023 and would help rebuild Denver's defensive line. He's Pro Football Focus' seventh-best defensive end and No. 50 overall prospect on its big board and cracks the first round in all three mocks.

Players falling

Daniel Jeremiah: Iowa DB Cooper DeJean (Pick No. 27 to Arizona Cardinals)

Bucky Brooks: Iowa DB Cooper DeJean (Pick No. 28 to Buffalo Bills)

DeJean had 116 tackles, seven interceptions, 13 passes defensed and three touchdowns from 2022-23 and is one of the more intriguing players in the draft. However, both Jeremiah and Brooks have him falling to the end of the first round. The versatile DB's draft stock seems to be trending in the wrong direction, although he ranks as PFF's best cornerback and No. 8 overall prospect.

Yardbarker: Oregon State tackle Taliese Fuaga (Pick No. 27 to Detroit Lions)

Fuaga is one of the top offensive tackles in the draft class, standing at 6-foot-6, 334 pounds. He ranks as PFF's third-best tackle and No. 12 overall prospect. But he is the fifth tackle taken in this mock draft, falling to the end of the first round.

Surprise picks

Daniel Jeremiah: Penn State tackle Olumuyiwa Fashanu (Pick No. 13 to Las Vegas Raiders)

Bucky Brooks: Oregon State tackle Taliese Fuaga (Pick No. 13 to Las Vegas Raiders)

Yardbarker: Alabama tackle JC Latham (Pick No. 13 to Las Vegas Raiders)

All three mock drafts agree the Raiders will take an offensive tackle with their first-round pick. Although strengthening the trenches is always important, Las Vegas' most important task should be finding its franchise quarterback. The Raiders benched Jimmy Garoppolo early in the season in favor of  fourth-round rookie QB Aidan O'Connell, who threw for 12 touchdowns and seven interceptions in 11 games. He's not the future.

Instead, drafting a quarterback like Oregon's Bo Nix, who is predicted to be taken shortly after the first three go, makes much more sense.
