Quay Walker Set Massive Packers’ Franchise Record In Week 2
Wm. Glasheen/USA TODAY NETWORK-Wisconsin

Green Bay Packers linebacker Quay Walker made franchise history last weekend.

During the Packers’ Week 2 loss to the Atlanta Falcons, Walker racked up 17 combined tackles, the most for any player in a single game in Green Bay’s storied history, per HoggNFL. Blake Martinez, De’Vondre Campbell and Nate Wayne previously held the record with 16 apiece.

Through two games this season overall, Walker has logged 21 tackles, an interception, two passes defended and a defensive touchdown.

Walker played his collegiate football at the University of Georgia. He began earning moderate playing time during his sophomore campaign, registering 23 tackles and 2.5 sacks in 11 games.

The following year, Walker’s role increased, and he totaled 43 stops and a sack. He then broke out during his senior season with the Bulldogs, rattling off 65 tackles, 5.5 tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks, three passes defended and a fumble recovery.

Walker was then selected by the Packers with the 22nd overall pick of the 2022 NFL Draft.

The 23-year-old hit the ground running during his rookie campaign, playing in all 17 contests and finishing with 121 tackles, 1.5 sacks, three forced fumbles, a fumble recovery and seven passes defended.

Quay Walker seems to be well on his way to stardom.

Green Bay has gotten off to a 1-1 start this year, topping the Chicago Bears in its season opener before blowing a double-digit lead its defeat at the hands of the Falcons last weekend.

The Packers are aiming to make it back to the playoffs after failing to qualify last year. It marked the first time Green Bay missed the playoffs since 2018 and only the third time overall since 2008.

Of course, the Packers have entered a new era with Jordan Love at quarterback after a decade-and-a-half with Aaron Rodgers under center.

Green Bay will take on the New Orleans Saints on Sunday.
