The Scouting Report

Quentin Johnston, better known as QJ, has a scouting report that shows some very promising upside. Unfortunately, his play style seems to contradict his strengths. He’s big, strong, and explosive but struggled to use his frame to box out defenders in jump ball scenarios. Johnston was reportedly lightning fast, but then came into the combine and only posted a 4.59 40-yard dash. He made up for it with a 4.49 at his pro day but more importantly his speed flashes on film.

Where he makes most of his money is in run-after-the-catch scenarios. His combination of size and speed is rare, and smaller defenders can’t seem to bring him down while bigger defenders can’t keep up. Many sites are concerned about the way in which he catches the ball, saying that he doesn’t use his hands to catch. In fantasy football, it doesn’t matter if it hits him in the chest or in the hands as long as he reels it in for big plays.

The Fantasy Football Situation

Is there a better place to be for a wide receiver than the Los Angeles Chargers? Keenan Allen and Mike Williams are consistently top 24 options when healthy. Heck even Josh Palmer was the WR37 last year and he split time as the WR3 for the team. Justin Herbert is a cornerstone player in the NFL, and he is primed to be an insane value in fantasy drafts in his own right. In his last healthy season, he threw for over 5,000 yards. There was a wide receiver in the top 24 with only 812 receiving yards last season. Using some quick math, QJ only needs a 16.2 percent target share to be eligible for the top 24 wide receivers.

That’s not even taking into account the competition around him. Keenan Allen and Mike Williams have been far from the picture of health. Between the two of them, they missed 11 games, with extra time in games missed due to injury. The door to opportunity is wide open.
