The Dallas Cowboys made a splash at the NFL trade deadline that will improve the defensive line for the future. It wasn't necessarily a "win now" move, but a trade that sets the team up for long-term success with a disruptive force in the trenches.
Jerry Jones made a splash by trading a 2026 second-round and 2027 first-round NFL draft pick to the New York Jets in exchange for All-Pro defensive tackle Quinnen Williams.
Williams is one of the top interior defensive linemen in the NFL and is the kind of difference maker that makes Matt Eberflus' defense excel. He is also familiar with defensive line coach Aaron Whitecotton, and he's excited to get rolling in his new home.
As Williams prepares for his fresh start in Dallas, he is also teasing a new number. Williams updated his bio on social media that now reads, "Dallas Cowboys DT #92." The line replaced, "New York Jets DT #95," indicating a number change.
The No. 95 is currently worn by Kenny Clark, who the Cowboys acquired before the start of the regular season as part of the Micah Parsons trade with the Green Bay Packers.
Williams later popped up on the team's official roster with the No. 92 by his name.

New home, new number.
Let's hope he brings the same domination, though.
Since joining the NFL, Williams is a three-time Pro Bowler and 2022 first-team All-Pro honoree.
This season, Williams has recorded 32 tackles, seven tackles for a loss, three quarterback hits, and three forced fumbles. Throughout his career, Williams has been a wrecking ball and ranks among the top-10 run defenders in the league with 322 tackles, 59 tackles for a loss, 101 quarterback hits, 40 sacks, eight forced fumbles, and three fumble recoveries.
Williams is undeniably one of the top defenders at his position in the entire league, and he immediately improves the Dallas defense.
