Quinnen Williams Launches Big Brother's All-Pro Candidacy

Quinnen Williams may be bias in this particular situation, but there's no denying that New York Jets' defensive tackle is promoting a valid viewpoint.

Through five games this season, Jets' linebacker Quincy Williams has performed remarkably well according to multiple expert accounts and metrics. Younger brother Quinnen suggests that the five-week sample should put the 27-year-old linebacker in serious consideration for All-Pro honors.

Posting on the social media site formerly known as Twitter, Quinnen, who earned All-Pro honors for the Jets in 2022, made a simple and pointed sales pitch on behalf of his big bro following the team's 31-21 road win over the Broncos.

"Quincy Williams 1st Team All- Pro LB [emoji]," said @QuinnenWilliams in a post that was timestamped at 7:40 pm ET on X.

The numbers certainly support an early-season All-Pro candidacy for Quincy, who has been effective stopping the run, rushing the passer and dropping back in coverage. He has 48 tackles, four quarterback hits, four passes defensed and five tackles-for-loss.

Not as heralded as his younger brother Quinnen, Quincy Williams is becoming a "game-wrecker at linebacker" in the words of Jets' head coach Robert Saleh.

He was at it again in Week 5, accounting for nine stops, 2.0 sacks and three quarterback hits against the Denver Broncos. It was Quincy's strip sack that sparked the victory-clinching defensive touchdown in the game's final minute.

Saleh sounded a lot like Quincy's biological brother at Sunday's postgame press conference in Denver.

"He backs it up every day, he backs it up in practice, he backs it up in meetings," said the third-year head coach. "I’m so proud of him. You talk about the players, they get thrown away and they try to find their way. He stuck to it, kept his head down, kept working and he’s found his way and we’re very fortunate that we have him.”

Quincy, a third-round draft pick in 2019, was waived by the Jacksonville Jaguars prior to the 2021 season and claimed by the Jets one day later. He promptly worked his way into Gang Green's starting lineup and signed a new three-year contract this past March.

While Quinnen starred at Alabama before becoming the No. 3 overall draft pick, Quincy emerged from the NCAA Division I FCS level where he competed for Murray State.
