Quinyon Mitchell and the Philadelphia Eagles dropped their fifth straight game in Week 7’s edition of “Monday Night Football,” falling to 2-5 on the 2026 NFL season after a 38-21 loss to CeeDee Lamb and NFC East rival Dallas Cowboys. Now, the Eagles will look to end the drought in Week 8, heading to the nation’s capital to take on Jayden Daniels and the Washington Commanders.

With 12:23 remaining in the second quarter, Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott hit Lamb for a five-yard gain on 3rd-and-3, giving Dallas the first down before the wide receiver was dragged out of bounds by Mitchell. This play would eventually set up a Prescott to George Pickens touchdown on the drive, giving the Cowboys a 17-14 lead.

But as Lamb was heading out of bounds, Mitchell grabbed his facemask and pulled him toward the sidelines. Yet the illegal tackle by the Eagles cornerback went unnoticed by the officials and no flag was thrown.

Despite the officials not calling a penalty, Mitchell could still receive a fine from the NFL for his facemask against Lamb. The league reviews every play from the season for potential fines, and players can be fined up to $11,941 for a first facemask penalty, which can increase to $17,911 upon a second violation.

Through the first six weeks of the 2026 season, the NFL has handed out 23 fines for facemask, but the only player fined for that penalty in Week 6 was Commanders guard Chris Paul, who was charged the maximum amount for a first offense. Philadelphia has also been good at avoiding fines so far this year, with only linebacker Jeremiah Trotter Jr. getting fined $6,248 for unsportsmanlike conduct in Week 5.

Mitchell, on the other hand, has only been fined once during his three-year career, receiving a $14,069 fine during his rookie year for unsportsmanlike conduct against Washington.

Mitchell and the Eagles will face the Commanders in Week 8’s edition of “Sunday Night Football” at 8:20 p.m. ET.
