Raheem Morris poaches another from Rams for Falcons staff
John David Mercer-USA TODAY Sports

As the offseason officially begins for all 32 teams following last night’s Super Bowl, the Falcons are already in the full swing of things.

Raheem Morris was hired for a lot of reasons, but one of the primary factors was his ability to put together an excellent coaching staff. It seems that Morris went through the interview process knowing Zac Robinson, the hottest offensive coordinator candidate of the hiring cycle, would follow him wherever he was hired.

Morris also landed on Jimmy Lake to be his defensive coordinator, and though it wasn’t the blockbuster hire Robinson was, he deserves the benefit of the doubt if the Falcons’ new head coach picked him.

He’s leaning on his relationships, taking several coaches from Los Angeles with him to Atlanta. Robinson and Lake spent time on the Rams coaching staff with Morris, but so did pass game specialist/ game management Tim Berbenich as well as offensive assistants Nick Jones and K.J. Black.

We can add another name to that pipeline as well. According to 247Sports, the Falcons are expected to hire Los Angeles Rams associate director of strength and conditioning John Griffin in a lead strength and conditioning role.

The 35-year-old was in Los Angeles the entire time Morris was there. He began as an assistant strength and conditioning coach in 2021 before earning a promotion last offseason

The Falcons coaching staff is coming together nicely, and Raheem Morris’ relationships are clearly a focal point in his preference of who he’s surrounding himself with in Atlanta.
