With the Las Vegas Raiders on their bye week and two games in the span of five days awaiting, the team is going to have to decide quickly what direction they want to take.
On Nov. 4, the NFL’s trade deadline comes into effect. Sitting at 2-5, the Raiders are positioned as one of the obvious sellers, but they lack a real marquee piece to bring back a significant asset. Players on contract years such as wide receiver Jakobi Meyers and linebacker Jamal Adams could fetch decent prices back, but likely nothing substantial that could push the Raiders in one direction or the other.
However, one team is targeting the Raiders in hopes of luring in the big fish.
According to Trey Wingo, the Dallas Cowboys have started to make initial inquiries about the availability of Raiders superstar pass rusher Maxx Crosby.

For the Cowboys, managing to get Crosby would be a significant victory for their team.
In September, the Cowboys rocked the NFL world when they sent their own pass-rushing sensation Micah Parsons to the Green Bay Packers in exchange for defensive tackle Kenny Clark and two first-round picks. As expected, the deal has lead to some inconsistencies throughout the Cowboys defense, which is something they are clearly attempting to address. Even if they have to use one of those firsts to get a package going for Crosby, it would give the Cowboys the pass-rushing threat they are lacking right now.
However, the Raiders acted fast and told Crosby that they are not shopping him, and their is plenty of good reason why.
New general manager John Spytek inked Crosby to a three-year, $106.5 million extension in March, with the intent of having the pass rusher as a long-term building block. By changing course and moving Crosby to Dallas or anywhere, the Raiders would essentially be admitting defeat on this rendition of their team. The next step would be beginning the process of a proper rebuild, but other moves such as hiring head coach Pete Carroll and trading for quarterback Geno Smith make it hard to believe the Raiders are suddenly embracing that idea.
With two weeks to figure out the best direction of their team, the Raiders have already decided that Crosby is part of their long-term future.
