Raiders Bringing In Luke Getsy Assures Davante Adams Will Be Happy, Right?

The Las Vegas Raiders bringing in a familiar face for Davante Adams will help avoid discontent this upcoming season, assuming Luke Getsy is the answer. At least it won’t be Josh McDaniels running the offense anymore, right?

Did the Raiders make the right hire with Luke Getsy?

Raiders fans could see the frustration build for Adams last season. Owner Mark Davis also witnessed what we all did last year, and he had finally seen enough. With McDaniels long gone and Antonio Pierce entrenched as the permanent head coach, the offense still needed a leader. Following the Kliff Kingsbury fiasco, the Raiders went with a familiar face—one that Adams is familiar with. We’re referring to Getsy, of course.

As an intricate part of the success that Adams experienced alongside Aaron Rodgers, Raiders fans are hoping they can recreate some of that magic. Adams himself appears to be happy with the move; we can only assume that the former All-Pro had to sign off on the deal. Meanwhile, No. 17 spoke with Sports Illustrated’s Hondo Carpenter, echoing optimism thanks to his past relationship with Getsy.

“That was a good feeling knowing that it was a guy who I have worked with; I know how he works, I know how his mind works, and we have had success together, so it is definitely exciting.”

The Getsy signing has potential due to the established rapport, camaraderie, and proven success. He wasn’t the “sexiest” name that was available this offseason, but to some, neither was Antonio Pierce. Getsy just proves once again that this year’s offseason was about getting the “right” guy for the job, not the biggest one, per se.

There’s a new way of doing things in Sin City…

Adams expanded a little more on Getsy, in particular what we can expect from him and his approach to the squad.

“It’s a lot of different things. The open-mindedness and innovation of the offense. A good run-pass balance, and that is what I am used to. That West Coast style, and it will be fun getting to work on new systems and things that we are familiar with, me and the guys.”

That alone should have Raiders fans excited. When compared to McDaniels’ way of doing things, words such as innovation and inclusion were hardly used to describe it. Hearing out players and going with an approach where the system caters to a player’s strengths is something that Raider Nation has been clamoring for. Don’t knock Getsy already; he might be the key to the 2024 season.
