The Las Vegas Raiders have fallen on hard times in recent seasons, but things may be finally looking up for this once-great franchise. Last year, Georgia tight end Brock Bowers fell into the team's lap with the No. 13 overall pick, and he went on to be a First-Team All-Pro player in his rookie year.
A similar fate occurred this year, as the Silver and Black were able to land a generational running back prospect with the No. 6 overall pick. Boise State's Ashton Jeanty is now a Raider, and he will look to revitalize a rushing attack that was dead last in the league a season ago.
Under new head coach Pete Carroll, the OTA portion of the Raiders' offseason program began earlier this week. On Wednesday, the media was allowed at practice for the first time, and Bowers spoke about his new teammate Ashton Jeanty.
"He's a beast, he's a beast," Bowers insisted. "He's out there, you know, he's quick, he's fast. He's rocked up, he's thick, so he's pretty good."
This vote of confidence from an already-established player like Bowers should do wonders for Jeanty's confidence. With these two on the Raiders' offense, Las Vegas may have one of the most formidable young duos in the league.
Quarterback Geno Smith is far superior than who was throwing Bowers the ball last year, and Jeanty is head-and-shoulders above the Raiders' running backs from last year. This unit could surprise some people over the next few seasons.
