Raiders can still connect with AFC team for major offseason move

The Las Vegas Raiders enjoyed a productive offseason, bringing in key figures for the season ahead and beyond.

Head coach Pete Carroll, general manager John Spytek, and quarterback Geno Smith were all brought on early on to try and turn things around for the Raiders. The 2025 NFL Draft in April was another major moment, as the Raiders selected running back Ashton Jeanty to shore up one of their biggest weaknesses last offseason in the ground game. With their next two picks, the Raiders selected wide receiver Jack Bech and cornerback Darien Porter to fill other pressing needs.

Even with the presence of young talent on the roster, however, the Raiders can still make some magic happen late in the offseason.

Two options still exist for the Raiders for a late-offseason blockbuster.

When discussing what teams need and what tradable assets they have, Bleacher Report’s Alex Ballentine inadvertently made a connection between the Raiders and the Miami Dolphins.

“The Raiders addressed their top two needs in the draft, but it’s best to keep realistic expectations. Jack Bech and Darien Porter were worthy of their Day 2 draft slots, but both might take a while before they are actual contributors,” wrote Ballentine.

“Bech and Porter are similar prospects in the fact that they are big, physical players for their position, but they each only have one year of college production.”

While the two players in question have exciting NFL futures ahead of them, the Raiders might not find it wise to put too much pressure on them this early on.

Fortunately, the Dolphins look to be in a position to help with that, if the Raiders hope to do some business. Cornerback Jalen Ramsey and wide receiver Tyreek Hill are both considered tradable assets by Ballentine, and the team looks to be headed into a transition period away from the new core.

“There’s plenty of buzz surrounding a Jalen Ramsey trade in South Beach, but cornerback is their biggest need regardless. Trading away their only proven starter at the position would just make it an even bigger issue,” wrote Ballentine on the Dolphins.

“That’s the problem for the Dolphins roster right now, though. They have a ton of money tied into older stars including Ramsey and Tyreek Hill, but it also feels like they’ve reached their peak with the current core.”

It sounds as though Hill would be the easier piece to move, so the Raiders have a place to start discussions. The Dolphins also have a need on the interior offensive line, and Ballentine listed offensive guard Dylan Parham as an asset the Raiders can move if they want to make a deal happen. It would clear up a potential logjam on the interior, as well as give the Raiders a true three-headed monster in Hill, Brock Bowers, and Jakobi Meyers in the passing game.

Hill and Ramsey have both been connected to the Raiders for a while now, and Ballentine is just the latest analyst to suggest the move, albeit indirectly.
