Raiders DE Tyree Wilson is already showing his improvements before he even gets to hit anyone
Jamie Sabau-USA TODAY Sports

The Las Vegas Raiders took a flier on a raw prospect last season, who also happened to be dealing with a significant injury. Tyree Wilson, the Raiders' seventh-overall draft pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, didn't have the rookie season that a large portion of the fan base wanted. But, that doesn't mean he's a bust. He is far from it.

Towards the end of the season, he started playing really well. It was a big flip from the beginning of the season where he got off on the ball and was slower than average. He picked up the speed and started translating his production well. The Raiders even moved him inside on obvious passing downs and he did some work there, too.

But, there are obviously still some concerns. The production, while it was much improved, was still not where a seventh-overall pick should be. This offseason has been a big one for him to prove he deserved to be picked where he was. From everything we have heard, from coaches and even guys like Maxx Crosby, Wilson has been working his butt off, and it's already showing.

His strength has increased significantly. You can tell by the way he looks, as he looks in much better shape and is cut and toned much better. Even in simple drills like hitting the sled and hitting a bag, Wilson looks much quicker on his get-off, and he looks so much stronger with a much better and more fluid movement.

Now, of course, this is against items that don't move and they aren't actual offensive lineman. And, let's also remember that no one is hitting anyone else and also not wearing pads. So, we have to take everything with a grain of salt.

Regardless, it's pretty clear that he is already looking much better right now than he was this time last year, where he was in a boot. Even in training camp last season, when he got in towards the end of camp, he didn't look great. So, there are certainly some positives to take.
