Raiders draft countdown: Eddie Anderson is best No. 33

Thirty-three days remain until the 2026 NFL Draft in Pittsburgh, Pa., April 23-25, 2026. After a 3-14 season in 2025, the Las Vegas Raiders hold the No. 1 overall pick as this daily countdown continues through the franchise’s best players by jersey number.

Today, March 21, the number is 33.

Eddie Anderson, No. 33

Eddie Anderson is the pick for No. 33 because he gave the Raiders long-term stability in the secondary and consistently finished plays on the ball. From 1987-1997, he played a heavy workload, started for years, and delivered takeaways that swung games.

Anderson played 154 games for the Raiders and started 116. He recorded 19 interceptions for 531 yards and three touchdowns, including a 102-yard return.

Why Anderson gets No. 33

No. 33 has several strong Raiders names, but Anderson separates with longevity and production in the same uniform. Eleven seasons and 116 starts is a rare run in the defensive backfield.

The separator is 19 interceptions and three defensive touchdowns over an 11-year Raiders career.

Draft and background

Anderson was born July 22, 1963, in Warner Robins, Ga. He played at Warner Robins High School in Georgia before playing at Fort Valley State.

The Seattle Seahawks drafted him in the sixth round, 153rd overall, in 1986. A year later, he arrived with the Raiders and turned into a long-term starter in Silver and Black.
