Seventy-nine days remain until the 2026 NFL Draft in Pittsburgh, Pa., April 23-25, 2026. After a 3-14 season in 2025, the Las Vegas Raiders hold the No. 1 overall pick as this daily countdown continues through the franchise’s best players by jersey number.
Today, February 3, the number is 79.
Harry Schuh, known as “The Horse,” is the pick for No. 79 because he set the standard at tackle in the Raiders early years. From 1965-1970, he anchored the line and gave the offense a tone-setter up front.
Schuh played 84 games for the Raiders and started 77. His value was durability and high-end play at a premium position.
The separator is how quickly he became elite. Schuh was a multiple-time Pro Bowl selection with the Raiders and earned All-Pro recognition during his run.
Meanwhile, he was part of an AFL championship team. That hardware matters in a number group with several shorter Raiders stints.
Schuh was born Sept. 25, 1942, in Philadelphia. He played at Neshaminy High School in Pennsylvania before starring at Memphis.
Then the Oakland Raiders drafted him in the first round of the 1965 AFL Draft, third overall. He became a foundational piece during the franchise’s climb.
Schuh spent six seasons with the Raiders, then built a long NFL career beyond Oakland. Still, his best mark in Silver and Black is clear, which is why No. 79 belongs to “The Horse.”
Next up tomorrow: No. 78.
