Outside of Maxx Crosby, second-year tight end Brock Bowers might just be the most important player on the Raiders. After erupting early in their Week 1 matchup with the New England Patriots, Bowers left the game with an injury and did not return.
Panic among the fanbase ensued.
Luckily, the injury was not deemed serious, and Bowers was given the day-to-day label. While it was encouraging that nothing was damaged long-term, the further we get along in the week, the more unlikely it is that Bowers will suit up against the Los Angeles Chargers on Monday Night.
On Friday, when the team took the field, Vinny Bonsignore reported that Brock Bowers was not practicing, yet again. Starting right guard Jackson Powers-Johnson did not practice either.

While the Raiders received a big sigh of relief that Bowers showed no MCL or ACL damage, they still want to be extremely cautious with it, especially this early in the season.
Back on Monday, head coach Pete Carroll told the media, “Really, we’re just going day-to-day. Those guys are tough guys, now. They’re not going to take the easy way out on this one; they’re all going to push to get right.”

If the Raiders were to be without Bowers and Powers-Johnson, it could be tough sledding against a Chargers team that is 1-0 after knocking off the defending AFC Champion Kansas City Chiefs.
Quarterback Geno Smith will turn to Jakobi Meyers, who was 2nd on the team with 97 yards on 8 catches last Sunday. Backup tight end and former 2nd round pick, Michael Mayer, will also have a big opportunity to prove that it was wise of the Raiders to hang on to him.
Playing on Monday Night will give the team one extra day of evaluation, but at this point, it is looking very unlikely that either player will be available.
