Raiders Facing Potential Problem for Chiefs Game

  • Jakobi Meyers is dealing with multiple injuries ahead of Sunday’s Las Vegas Raiders-Kansas City Chiefs.
  • Meyers will work out pre-game to determine whether he can play, reported Adam Schefter of ESPN.
  • The Raiders are also missing Brock Bowers, potentially weakening the offense against the Chiefs.

The Las Vegas Raiders (2-4) are facing a Jakobi Meyers situation ahead of their highly anticipated rivalry showdown against the Kansas City Chiefs (3-3) on Sunday. Meyers missed practice on Wednesday and Thursday but returned on Friday, albeit as a limited participant. The 28-year-old wide receiver is dealing with knee and toe injuries, which forced him to miss a significant part of his team’s preparations for Sunday’s game.

Meyers has started all six games for the Raiders thus far, producing 29 receptions for 329 yards. In Vegas’ Week 6 win over the Tennessee Titans, the former North Carolina State Wolfpack standout caught all four of his targets for 39 yards.

It appears that Meyers sustained his injuries during the Raiders’ 20-10 win against the Titans last week. This forced him to miss two straight days of practice leading up to Sunday’s matchup against the Chiefs.

Vegas officially listed Meyers as questionable to play against Kansas City, which put a big question mark on his availability for the rivalry game. ESPN’s Adam Schefter provided an update on the Raiders' WR on Saturday night, and it seems that Vegas is facing a potential problem on the Meyers front.

“Raiders WR Jakobi Meyers, listed as questionable for Sunday due to a knee and toe injury, will work out pre-game to determine whether he can play against the Chiefs, per source,” Schefter reported on X.

It appears that the Raiders will only be able to make their final decision on Meyers close to kickoff. Should he end up sitting out his first game of the season, players such as Tre Tucker, Jack Bech and Dont’e Thornton Jr. could see bigger roles against Kansas City.

It is also important to note that star tight end Brock Bowers is not expected to play on Sunday due to a knee injury. Bowers is set to miss his third straight game.

This makes things even more complicated for head coach Pete Carroll on offense. Not having two of his most important weapons against the Chiefs will place the Raiders at a significant disadvantage.

Kickoff from Arrowhead Stadium is scheduled at 1:00 p.m. ET.
