Maxx Crosby was beloved by Raiders fans and was seen as the future leader of the franchise. That changed March 6, when a trade sent him to the Baltimore Ravens for two first-round picks. Fans erupted across social media, sharing their heartbreak and anger.
Many also criticized the return, saying two first-round picks felt underwhelming for a generational talent. Some users mocked the trade, and one even posted laughing-crying emojis to show disbelief.
Continuing the fallout from the trade, one user even wrote, “It’s a loss, but he can’t be held back. He’s too talented.” That reaction showed just how many stages of grief fans are cycling through right now.
The news hit hard. Some fans did not need more than one word to get the point across, calling the trade disgusting, depressing, lame and unexpected across comment sections.
Crosby had long felt like an untouchable piece for the Raiders. However, the team’s ongoing struggles over the past few seasons, including a 2025-26 campaign that bottomed out with just three wins in 15 games, signaled the Raiders needed a major change to try to turn things around.
This fan base has taken its lumps for a long time. Now, many fans are simply hoping the Raiders know what they are doing and can build a better team moving forward.
