In preparation for Sunday’s matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs, the Las Vegas Raiders were hoping to avoid going in shorthanded.
Brock Bowers and Jakobi Meyers were both banged up heading into practice, and the injury report only provided more to worry about. Neither player practiced on Wednesday or Thursday, putting both in doubt against the Chiefs. Heading on the road in Kansas City is always a tough ask, and doing it down two top players is near impossible.
Fortunately, it appears as though the Raiders got a stroke of good luck.
Friday came as a welcome sight to Raiders fans, as Bowers and Meyers both got limited practice sessions in.
For Bowers, the moment is significant, as he was without a knee brace and participating in practice for the first time since Oct. 1. He tried to play through a knee injury he sustained in Week One, but it was clear to see over the next three games that it was affecting his performance.
While Bowers returning to practice is a welcome sight, he was still designated as doubtful for the game against the Chiefs, indicating that the plan might be to let him get healthy and unleash him in Week Nine against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Meyers, on the other hand, missed practice on Wednesday and Thursday with knee and toe injuries. Some believed that it was because the Raiders were thinking about potentially trading the veteran wide receiver, keeping him off of the practice field to prevent further injury. However, Meyers was designated as questionable for Sunday’s game, but the expectation is that he will play against the Chiefs.
With clear plans for both to return to the field, Raiders fans can relax and hope for the best in the toughest game of the season for the Silver and Black.
