Raiders hire Patriots wide receivers coach Mick Lombardi as offensive coordinator

Josh McDaniels is bringing a couple of familiar faces with him to Las Vegas.

The Raiders are hiring Patriots wide receivers coach Mick Lombardi as their new offensive coordinator, per ESPN's Adam Schefter. They also are hiring New England offensive line coach Carmen Bricillo to the same position.

Both Lombardi and Bricillo joined the Patriots staff in 2019 under McDaniels and served with him through the 2021 season. McDaniels was hired by the Raiders last month after nearly 20 years with the Patriots organization.

Lombardi got his start in the NFL with the Patriots, becoming a scout in 2011 after coaching for two years at his alma mater Fordham. He joined the 49ers in 2013 as an assistant to the head coach, then became an offensive assistant in 2014 and a defensive assistant in 2015 before jumping to offensive quality coach in 2016.

In 2017, Lombardi left for the Jets, where he became an offensive assistant. He received his first position coach title in 2019 with the Patriots, being hired as assistant quarterbacks coach. He became the wide receivers coach from 2020-21 before now following McDaniels out west.

Bricillo, meanwhile, hadn't coached in the NFL prior to joining the Patriots. He coached at his former high school and college to begin his career before working his way up through a number of assistant positions, then eventually settling in as the offensive line coach at Youngstown State. He stayed in that role from 2010-18 before joining New England in 2019.
