Raiders hit rock bottom, fall to Giants

In one more week, the Las Vegas Raiders could be on the clock.

On Sunday, the Raiders lost their tenth straight game, falling to the New York Giants 34-10 at Allegiant Stadium.

With the loss, the Raiders are officially first in the draft order with a 2-14 record. Should they lose to Kansas City Chiefs next week, the Raiders will have the top pick when the draft occurs in April.

Here is how the Raiders officially won the race to the bottom.

Fire goes out

Last week against the Houston Texans, the Raiders showed more fire than they had over the past few weeks in the face of a difficult foe.

This afternoon, however, the adversity of losing top players was too much. The Giants were able to move the ball at will, and the Raiders found themselves in too big of a hole early to climb out of. The fans may appreciate the performance for their own dreams of the first overall pick, but the players and coaches will not be thrilled with what they put together.

Complete shift

The third quarter saw the momentum change that ultimately tanked the Raiders.

With Geno Smith throwing a touchdown to Tyler Lockett, there was hope that the Raiders could at least make this into a game. However, Deonte Banks immediately delivered the backbreaker with a kickoff return to push the Raiders lead out further. An interception and a Smith injury later, and any chance at a comeback was snuffed out.

What happens now?

With a loss to the Chiefs next weekend, the Raiders will complete their race to the bottom of the standings and hold the first overall pick. From there, the team faces an uncertain future, with Smith head coach Pete Carroll, and even edge rusher Maxx Crosby uncertain to return for 2026. A long rebuild could be next, but it might be what the Raiders need.
