Raiders Land Star QB Of The Future In Blockbuster Trade Proposal
Stephen Lew-USA TODAY Sports

In the ongoing draft preparations, with many teams in need of quarterbacks, the Las Vegas Raiders emerge as a significant contender in the hunt for talent in the 2024 NFL Draft.

Aidan O’Connell shows promise as a potential starter, albeit with limitations in athleticism, which might cap his potential. For the Raiders, particularly if they seek a quarterback with dynamic mobility, Jayden Daniels from LSU presents an enticing option.

Ryan Fowler, in a notable proposal for Bleacher Report, suggested a substantial trade scenario involving the Raiders sending multiple picks to the New England Patriots in exchange for the No. 3 overall selection. This move would position the Raiders to draft Daniels.

“The details of this deal do not include two future first-round selections, but making a move into the top five for a potential shot at Daniels will cost Las Vegas a pretty penny. However, if head coach Antonio Pierce wants to build the Raiders from the ground up, drafting his face of the franchise could be a great message to Las Vegas fans that he’s not wasting any time.”

The picks that the Raiders would have to send would be the No. 13 overall pick, a 2024 second-round pick, and a 2025 first-round pick, as well as a 2026 second-round pick.

While such a trade entails significant risk, considering Daniels’ unproven status, his immense potential suggests he could be the catalyst the Raiders need to reinvigorate their offense.

On the field, Jayden Daniels showcases undeniable talent, evidenced by his impressive performance last season at LSU, where he amassed 50 touchdowns and clinched the prestigious Heisman Trophy. However, there’s an intriguing personal connection between Daniels and the Raiders that adds depth to this potential draft move.

Head coach Antonio Pierce previously served as Daniels’ recruiting coordinator at Arizona State, fostering a relationship that endured even after Daniels transferred to LSU. Their connection was evident when Daniels attended a Raiders game as a guest during their Week 18 victory over the Denver Broncos.

ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reported Pierce’s keen interest in drafting Daniels, further underlining the potential alignment between the player and the team.

“The Las Vegas Raiders (No. 13) might be a team to watch. New coach Antonio Pierce is a big fan of Daniels from their days together at Arizona State, and word is that Pierce evaluated offensive coordinators with the loose possibility of Daniels in mind.”

Moreover, Pierce’s acknowledgment of a social media post expressing Daniels’ desire to join the Raiders in 2024 suggests a mutual interest that could materialize if the Raiders choose to trade up to secure the No. 3 pick in the draft, increasing their chances of acquiring Daniels.
