The Las Vegas Raiders are revamping their front office and coaching staff in the weeks after the end of the regular season. They recently announced that John Spytek would be the team's general manager. On Saturday, the Raiders made it official by sharing an announcement that Pete Carroll would be their new head coach.
The 73-year-old was the Seattle Seahawks head coach and vice president of operations from 2010 to 2023. In 2024, he served as a senior advisor in Seattle.
A Super Bowl 48 champion, Carroll's hire points to a new direction taking shape in Las Vegas under the guidance of minority owner Tom Brady.

The Raiders' 2024 season was under pressure almost immediately with early losses compounding and the departure of WR Davante Adams as the superstar pass-catcher requested a trade.
Las Vegas fired head coach Antonio Pierce after finishing the season 4-13. General manager Tom Telesco was fired days later, paving the way for Spytek's hiring.
Carroll is no stranger to the Bay Area or California. He was the San Francisco 49ers' defensive coordinator from 1995 to 1996 and USC's head coach from 2001 to 2009, leading the Trojans to back-to-back national championships, although one title was later vacated.
The next vacancy the Raiders must address could be under center, as the franchise holds the No. 6 overall pick in the upcoming 2025 NFL Draft.
