The Las Vegas Raiders did not have a kind of success in Week 5. The Raiders were embarrassed in their matchup against the Indianapolis yesterday, in a game that the Raiders did not come out and play. It felt like this game was decided before the teams even took the field.
It was a bad showing, especially coming from a team that is led by Pete Carroll. As a head coach, Carroll expects this team, but they are not showing up for games. It is something to keep your eye on.
The Raiders need to make major adjustments before their next matchup, and we do not know what we are going to get from this Raiders team anymore. The Raiders are going into a bad position this season, and it is happening fast. Something is up with this team, and if they do not get out of it, they could be the worst team in the NFL. And that will be something this team did not see coming, and so many others as well.
Raiders quarterback Geno Smith continues to have poor outings at the most important position in the National Football League. In Week 5, Smith had two more interceptions, and he was on the bad side of history in that matchup.
"According to ESPN Research, Smith's nine interceptions are the most by any Raiders quarterback in the team's first five games since Jim Plunkett had nine in 1982," said Ryan Phillips of ESPN. "The last NFL quarterback to have nine picks in their team's first five games was Zach Wilson for the New York Jets in 2021. It's worth noting that Wilson was a rookie at the time, and those were the first five games of his career. Smith is a 34-year-old two-time Pro Bowler."
Las Vegas lost 40-6.
"Smith finished the day 25-of-36 for 228 yards and the two interceptions. The Raiders didn't find the end zone all afternoon. On the season, Smith has completed 65.0% of his passes for 1,176 yards, with six touchdowns and nine interceptions. He has been one of the worst quarterbacks in the NFL in 2025."
Smith is going to have to figure it out very soon, or will he get the chance to? The Raiders have to consider making a change at the quarterback position.
