Raiders' Maxx Crosby tells a story about a time Jon Gruden threatened to cut him
Stephen R. Sylvanie-USA TODAY Sports

The Las Vegas Raiders have been through several regimes in the last few years. For guys like Maxx Crosby, who have been on the Raiders for some time now, he is about to be on his third regime with the Raiders.

There was the Jon Gruden era, the Josh McDaniels era, and now the Antonio Pierce era. The previous two didn't treat the Raiders well enough, besides the one playoff appearance under Gruden. As for Pierce, there is a great chance he could be around for some time, and he doesn't plan on going anywhere. He is a Raider through and through and elevated this team during his short stint as interim head coach last season.

When talking about the Gruden era, though, you can't help but bring up how much of a "hard ass" he was. He was one of those coaches who was easy to make upset, and he definitely let you know when he was mad. I mean, you can ask Crosby himself, as he shared a story of Gruden during one pretty wild practice.

This is not the first time we have heard about a coach getting upset when the defense plays well against Derek Carr, but that's a different story for a different day. To threaten to cut Crosby, which he likely wasn't going to do, no matter what, is pretty crazy. That had to be in either 2019, 2020, or 2021. But, considering that Crosby said it was one of his first training camps, it was like 2019.

Think about a young rookie, Maxx Crosby. He was nowhere near what he is today. Is he good? Yes. But he was not even half of the player he is now. This is still a pretty wild story, to say the least.
