Raiders offensive lineman already big fan of Ashton Jeanty

Running back Ashton Jeanty comes in with high expectations from the Las Vegas Raiders and the NFL at large.

The Raiders lacked any semblance of a running game last season, resulting in struggles all throughout the offense. With Jeanty, however, the team now hopes to obtain more balance and avoid getting caught in situations where they have to be one-dimensional. In order for the Raiders to take the next step, Jeanty will be crucial to their fortunes.

One of his new teammates is confident that the rookie can live up to the hype, and he is willing to do what it takes to help him get there.

Jeanty already has a big fan in one of his new offensive linemen.

When Jeanty arrived to the Raiders’ practice facility at Intermountain Health Performance Center for rookie minicamp, one of the first players to greet him was center Jackson Powers-Johnson.

The fact that Jeanty is already getting acquainted with one of the guys he is trusting to open up running lanes for him is a great start. Powers-Johnson, a second-round pick of the Raiders in 2024, is also looking to prove that he is a long-term building block for the organization. The two now have the unique opportunity to continue their growth and develop together on and off the field.

Powers-Johnson sounds ready for the opportunity to do his part to get the offense in the right direction.

“Everything is true about what they are saying about this guy,” said Powers-Johnson, to J.T. The Brick. “He is just a ball of muscle. And when I dabbed him up and gave him a hug, it was pure metal. You know his speed, his agility, how he likes to play. He plays fun. He likes to have fun, and I think that is going to make him so deadly. He loves to block. That is a lineman’s dream. He is a great guy. And he is gonna have such a great year, and I am excited to block for him.”

Jeanty has a lot to live up to early on in his career, and Powers-Johnson sounds determined to help him see it through.
