Raiders QB options after Tom Brady retirement

It's time to stop the Tom Brady-to-Las Vegas rumors. The seven-time Super Bowl champion announced his retirement on Wednesday.

"This time, it's for good," he said on his Instagram.

Per ESPN's Jeremy Fowler, the Raiders thought they could land Brady if he played. Now Las Vegas must revise its plan, prioritize other veteran QBs or draft one.

The Raiders could sign San Francisco's Jimmy Garoppolo, a former Patriot and an impending free agent. Garoppolo knows Josh McDaniels' system because he spent three seasons in New England when McDaniels was the OC.

Per ESPN's Adam Schefter, Brock Purdy is out for six months after tearing his right UCL in the NFC Championship game. He should be ready for training camp. If Purdy's not ready by the regular season, San Francisco might favor 2021 first-round draft pick Trey Lance over the 31-year-old Garoppolo.

Aside from Garoppolo, other free-agent QBs include New York's Daniel Jones and Seattle's Geno Smith. Lamar Jackson is a free agent, but Baltimore may use the franchise tag on him.

"My sense is that Jackson will get the exclusive franchise tag," said NFL Network's Ian Rapoport Tuesday on the Pat McAfee show.

Green Bay expects a haul in a potential Aaron Rodgers trade. According to NBC Sports' Peter King, the Packers would want at least two first-round draft picks.

The Raiders, who have the No. 7 overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, will select Kentucky QB Will Levis, per Tankathon. ESPN's Mel Kiper Jr. said he's a raw prospect.

"Turn on his tape, and you're going to see some poor interception and questionable decisions," he wrote about Levis."But you're also going to see rockets that should've been caught and tight-window throws no other passer in this class can make."

Despite Brady's retirement, the Raiders have multiple options, so their offseason should be among the league's most compelling.
