The Las Vegas Raiders were expected to have one of the NFL's top offenses with the addition of All-Pro wideout Davante Adams to a lineup that already included QB Derek Carr and Pro Bowlers Hunter Renfrow (WR) and Darren Waller (TE).
However, Week 2's historic collapse against the Cardinals saw Renfrow fumble the game away and Adams, Carr's college teammate, finish with two receptions for 12 yards and a one-yard TD reception.
"One week after receiving 17 targets, Davante Adams was targeted just seven times against the Cardinals...It wasn’t by design; the receiver just wasn’t getting open at the same rate," writes Tashan Reed of The Athletic.
Las Vegas lost a 20-0 lead -- the biggest blown lead in franchise history.
The offense as a whole is struggling. Las Vegas ranks 13th in points and has an 0-2 record. Per The Sporting News, of the 400 teams that have started the season 0-2 since 1970, only 38 have reached the playoffs. Most worrisome, the Raiders haven't established a sense of direction on offense.
The team has passed 76 times compared to 33 rushes. The rushing attempts are far too few, especially with running back Josh Jacobs averaging 4.3 yards per attempt.
Goodness gracious, Josh Jacobs. What a 9-yard run. pic.twitter.com/IptZS5sKF8

If the Raiders--who led 23-7 heading into the fourth quarter--had stuck with the run, they would have won.
The #Raiders threw 3 straight times when they got the ball up 23-7 early in the 4th QTR. They were close on all three plays — Davante Adams was open on play 1, Mack Hollins had a drop on play 2 & the ball was tipped on play 3 — but it feels like a misstep to not drain some clock. pic.twitter.com/RwcF8fMuzJ

Las Vegas' stars must be better. Carr can't repeat his Week 2 performance, in which he struggled passing in the second half. If the maligned offensive line can respond with a solid Week 2, Carr, Adams and coach Josh McDaniels must do the same in Week 3.
The season may hang in the balance before October for the Raiders, who face a critical test on the road Sunday at Tennessee.
