Raiders Release Quarterback Ahead of Training Camp

The Las Vegas Raiders had one of the worst offenses in the NFL during the 2024 season. The group mustered just 18.2 points per game, which ranked 29th in the NFL, and the team's three quarterbacks threw just 19 touchdowns compared to 16 interceptions.

This offseason, new general manager John Spytek traded a third-round pick to the Seattle Seahawks for veteran quarterback Geno Smith. Not only is he a massive upgrade over what the Raiders had on the roster, but he is now reunited with head coach Pete Carroll.

Smith's arrival demoted Aidan O'Connell immediately into a backup role and prompted the release of veteran Gardner Minshew. Undrafted quarterback Carter Bradley remained on the roster through the regime change.

Las Vegas also drafted North Dakota State quarterback Cam Miller in the sixth round of the 2025 NFL Draft. With the team likely to keep only three quarterbacks, someone had to be the odd man out for the Raiders.

On Monday, the team announced that Bradley would be this player, as he was waived before training camp began on Thursday.

Bradley joined the team last offseason after going undrafted out of South Alabama. After initially being waived before last season, he remained with the team on the practice squad throughout the 2024 campaign.

He did not appear in a regular-season game for the Raiders, but he did complete 17-of-34 passes last preseason for 225 yards and a touchdown (via Fox Sports).

Now, with Bradley out of the picture, the depth chart will likely be O'Connell and Miller backing up Smith. The Raiders also have an open roster spot now ahead of training camp.
