Raiders Reuniting Pete Carroll With Controversial Star DB

The Las Vegas Raiders have made several major changes this offseason under new head coach Pete Carroll and general manager John Spytek. This included a complete overhaul of the defense, as only one starter remains from the back half of last year's group.

To replace them, the team signed players like Elandon Roberts, Germaine Pratt and Devin White at linebacker. They also added defensive backs like cornerback Eric Stokes and safeties Jeremy Chinn and Lonnie Johnson Jr.

However, the team was not done making adjustments to their roster, as on Tuesday, NFL Insider Jordan Schultz reported that the Raiders were signing veteran safety Jamal Adams.

Adams has played eight seasons in the NFL and earned three All-Pro honors, as well as three Pro Bowl distinctions. The former No. 6 overall pick by the New York Jets also spent four seasons under Carroll with the Seattle Seahawks.

Throughout his career, Adams has been a controversial figure. He once made fun of the wife of a Jets reporter during a press conference, and several reports from New York indicated that he was not a great presence in the locker room.

However, the Raiders are seemingly taking a chance on the nearly 30-year-old safety ahead of training camp. He will look to ingratiate himself with a group that already consists of players like Chinn, Johnson, Isaiah Pola-Mao and Thomas Harper.

All told, Adams has recorded 501 tackles, including 50 for a loss, as well as 21.5 sacks in his career. He also has four interceptions, 36 passes defended, seven forced fumbles and four fumble recoveries on his resume, as well as two defensive touchdowns.
