Raiders Safety Predicted to Sign With Super Bowl Contender

The Las Vegas Raiders are expected to undergo several major roster changes this offseason with their new head coach and general manager duo of Pete Carroll and John Spytek. That could mean losing key players in free agency, and Mike Jones of The Athletic wrote  that safety Tre'Von Moehrig could leave Las Vegas and sign with the Baltimore Ravens.

"The Ravens have decisions to make with a number of their own players," wrote Jones. "But as far as outside free agents go, they need help in their secondary, where a lack of speed and impact plays hampered their efforts. Moehrig would fill a big need at free safety after racking up 104 tackles, 10 pass breakups and two interceptions for the Raiders last season."

Moehrig has been a stalwart on the Raiders' defense since being drafted by the franchise in the second round of the 2021 NFL Draft. He has played 66 out of a possible 68 games and has continued to show improvement throughout his four years.

Losing Moehrig would create quite a hole in the middle of the Las Vegas defense as he has contributed 297 tackles, including eight for a loss, and racked up 29 pass deflections and six interceptions in his four years. His market value is roughly $15.7 million per year according to Spotrac , which may be a difficult price point for the Raiders as they just extended Maxx Crosby and still need to find a quarterback.

Las Vegas did retain defensive coordinator Patrick Graham this offseason, which means Moehrig would be returning to a defense that he has had plenty of success in. But if Baltimore can out-bid the Raiders for Moehrig's talents, they will likely get him.
