The Las Vegas Raiders and their fans exhaled on Monday after receiving good news about star tight end Brock Bowers. The second-year standout exited Sunday’s 20-13 win over the Patriots with what initially looked like a serious knee injury, sparking immediate concern across the league.

Bowers, who had been the most productive player on the field with five catches for 103 yards before his exit, was seen walking gingerly and did not return. Early speculation suggested something significant, with some observers fearing an MCL or even ACL issue. Instead, both Bowers and head coach Pete Carroll confirmed that the damage was far less severe.

“I’m feeling better, just kept me out for concerns and stuff,” Bowers told SiriusXM NFL Radio. “Feel good, we have an extra day coming up this week, so I’ll try to get back out there.”

Carroll echoed that sentiment during his Monday press conference, classifying Bowers as “day-to-day.”

“Really, we’re just going day-to-day,” Carroll said. “Those guys are tough guys, now. They’re not going to take the easy way out on this one, they’re all going to push to get right.”

The “day-to-day” designation is the best-case scenario for the Raiders, especially given how the injury appeared in real time. With Las Vegas set to host the Chargers on Monday Night Football, Bowers gains the benefit of an additional recovery day before Week 2.

Carroll noted that the extra time could make all the difference: “This will really help us and give us a chance.”

The rookie-record holder for most receptions in a season (112 catches in 2024) picked up right where he left off in Week 1, once again showing why he is central to the Raiders’ offensive plans. Losing him long term would have been devastating, but the latest update makes it clear he avoided the worst-case scenario.

Bowers is expected to appear on the team’s first official injury report later this week, likely with a “limited” tag if he’s able to practice. But for now, the Raiders have clarity: their young star is still on track to be part of the game plan as they look to start the season 2-0.
