Raiders Sign Michael Gallup
Kyle Terada-USA TODAY Sports

Former Dallas wide receiver Michael Gallup is signing a one-year deal worth up to $3 million with the Las Vegas Raiders.

The Dallas Cowboys gave Gallup, 28, permission to seek a trade but there were no buyers. March 15 the Cowboys released Gallup in a move that subsequently open up $9.5 million in salary cap space.

Gallup’s best season was in 2019 with a 1,100-yard season and a career-best 66 receptions. After tearing his ACL in his left knee late in the 2021 season, the Cowboys still rewarded Gallup with a five-year, $57.5 million deal in 2022. Since the injury, Gallup has in fact seen his production decline each year. This past season he saw career lows of 418 receiving yards and two touchdown receptions. But in his last game wearing a Cowboy uniform, he caught six passes going for 103 yards in a playoff loss to Green Bay. The Cowboys drafted Gallup in the third round of the 2018 draft out of Colorado State. He finished with 266 receptions for 3,744 yards and 21 touchdowns in his career with the Cowboys.

The Raiders are looking to solidify their depth at receiver position, selecting tight end Brock Bowers in the first round helps them big time in the passing game. Ultimately Gallup is looking to solidify the 3rd spot in the rotation. Gallup will definitely be given the opportunity to win that spot. Davante Adams is undoubtedly the leader but the Raiders are looking for Jakobi Meyers and Tre Tucker to take a step up and compete.
