The Raiders drafted the talented center with the No. 44 overall selection in the second round of the 2024 NFL Draft out of Oregon. After playing out his rookie deal, Powers-Johnson will either sign an extension with the Raiders or test the free agency market after the 2027 NFL season.
The former Oregon star grew up as a fan of the Raiders, making his signing a full-circle moment.
“It’s humbling,” Powers-Johnson said. “The first NFL game I ever went to was a Raiders game. There’s just so much rich history of just people who are just absolutely nuts. I just want to get after it and that’s how I play. So I think it’s just a great fit for me. Then just being able to put on these colors, put it on the helmet, put it on my chest, is a truly a dream come true.”
Powers-Johnson has looked very good in rookie camp so far. The Raiders are looking for him to compete at center. They’re giving him every opportunity to win the starting job. That’s a very tall task for any rookie but nevertheless, it’s a task that Powers-Johnson is ready to go after.
