Amidst the flurry of free agency news on Monday afternoon, the Las Vegas Raiders added safety Jeremy Chinn on a two-year deal for more than $16 million, per NFL Network's Mike Garafolo.
Chinn started all 20 games for the Washington Commanders last season, helping the team to a 12-5 regular season record and a trip to the NFC Championship game. A former second-round pick by the Carolina Panthers, Chinn played just one season in Washington after spending his first four in Carolina.
Last year, Chinn matched his career-high with 117 tackles last season, a mark that included a career-high seven tackles for loss. He also recorded one interception, five pass defenses, and one forced fumble.

Chinn joins a Las Vegas team that went 4-13 last season and was the only team in its division not to make the playoffs. Former Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll is now at the helm in Las Vegas. Along with new starting quarterback Geno Smith, who was traded from Seattle, Carroll is looking to turn around the Raiders in one of the league's toughest divisions.
Chinn bolsters a defensive unit that is looking to improve after allowing the seventh most points per game (25.5) in the NFL last season. The team's recent long-term extension of star defensive end Maxx Crosby will help in those efforts as well.
