The Las Vegas Raiders added some veterans to their roster the day before starting training camp.
According to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero, the Raiders signed safety Jamal Adams and wide receiver Phillip Dorsett on Tuesday.
Adams made three straight Pro Bowls from 2018 to 2020, tallying a combined 273 tackles, 19.5 sacks, and six forced fumbles. However, the former No. 6 overall pick has played just 15 games over the last three seasons.
Adams suffered a torn quadriceps one game into the 2022 campaign and played five games for the Detroit Lions and Tennessee Titans last season. He will reportedly reunite with Pete Carroll, his former Seahawks coach, on a Raiders defense that ranked 15th in yards allowed last season.
Sources told NFL insider Jordan Schultz that Adams is in "excellent shape" and feels "the healthiest he's been in years." The 29-year-old joins a secondary that signed Jeremy Chinn and Lonnie Johnson Jr this offseason after losing safeties Marcus Epps and Tre'von Moehrig.
Meanwhile, Dorsett hasn't caught an NFL pass since Jan. 1, 2023.
Dorsett spent his first two seasons with the Indianapolis Colts, who made him the No. 29 pick in 2015. The wide receiver notched a career-high 538 yards in 2016 before registering 938 yards and eight touchdowns with the New England Patriots from 2017 to 2019.
After a foot injury wiped out his 2020 campaign, Dorsett played for three different teams (Seahawks, Jacksonville Jaguars, Houston Texans in 2021). He caught 20 of 40 targets for Houston in 2022 and didn't record a catch in two games with the Denver Broncos in 2023.
The Atlanta Falcons signed Dorsett to their practice squad last season, but he never saw the field. Atlanta released the 32-year-old in May.
Dorsett, who also briefly played for Carroll in Seattle, will try to make an impression in a receiving room led by Jakobi Meyers. The Raiders drafted Jach Bech and Dont'e Thornton Jr. in the second and fourth rounds, respectively.
Adams and Dorsett will compete for a roster spot once the Raiders begin training camp on Wednesday.
