Raiders Signing 3-Time All-Pro WR Is 'Almost a Certainty'

Though free agency hasn't technically started, there are a number of players who were released by their teams before the start of the league year and are free to sign with a new team whenever. Tyler Lockett is one of those players following his release from the Seattle Seahawks.

At 32, Lockett could realistically retire but it sounds like he's got some more left in the tank. The Las Vegas Raiders were immediately linked to the wide receiver due to his close ties to head coach Pete Carroll. It's now sounding like Lockett coming to Las Vegas is just a matter of time, according to NFL Network's Mike Garafolo.

"Lockett to Vegas, from what I heard at the combine, was almost a certainty," Garafolo said on Thursday's episode of "Daily Puck Live.

Garafolo did note that if the Raiders were to trade for DK Melcalf, that might change their thought process on Lockett but it's hard to imagine the 32-yard-old will cost much in free agency.

Lockett has been to an All-Pro team three times in his career but that was due to his skills as a returner. However, he developed into a very good wide receiver and has four seasons with over 1,000 receiving yards. Though he's no longer that level of player, he did have 600 receiving yards last season. He can still be an impact player for a Raiders offense that needs more playmakers.

Pairing Lockett and Metcalf on the Raiders to go with Jakobi Meyers and Brock Bowers could give them a lethal passing attack.
