Raiders surprisingly waive linebacker Tanner Muse

The Las Vegas Raiders are waiving linebacker Tanner Muse, according to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero.

The 25-year-old, a 2020 third-round pick, missed the entire 2020 campaign because of a toe injury. He took starter reps throughout camp and was considered a core special teamer, Pelissero adds.

Raiders head coach Jon Gruden and defensive coordinator Gus Bradley recently praised Muse just a few weeks ago, saying he had a solid training camp.

"He's done a good job," Bradley said, according to NFL.com. "He plays outside linebacker for us in base personnel, we moved him there. He's got really good speed, very good speed. As you know in college, that's what showed up for him. So [it's good] to have an athletic guy like that on the perimeter."

Muse had also been looking forward to making up for lost time but, unfortunately, he'll have to wait to make his NFL regular-season debut. It's unclear if any teams are interested in signing the versatile defender.
