The Las Vegas Raiders continue to fill out their coaching staff, and one of the things the franchise is doing is surrounding first-time head coach Antonio Pierce with some experience. Marvin Lewis has already been brought on as an assistant, and now another former head coach looks to be coming in as well.

The team has already hired Luke Getsy as its offensive coordinator and Rich Scangarello as the quarterbacks coach. And now an extremely experienced name is set to come on to help the offense.

According to Ian Rapaport of NFL Network, the Raiders will be hiring former Miami Dolphins head coach Joe Philbin as a senior offensive assistant:

Philbin spent last season as a senior analyst at Ohio State but has a ton of NFL experience, most recently with the Dallas Cowboys as the offensive line coach from 2020-2022. Philbin began his NFL coaching career with the Green Bay Packers, working his way up to offensive coordinator with his success there leading to his hiring as head coach of the Dolphins.

Philbin spent more than three seasons in Miami and would have stints with the Indianapolis Colts as well as a return to the Packers before his most recent stops. He adds another great and experienced mind to this Raiders staff that will be tasked with turning some talented pieces into one of the best offenses in the league.

Finding the right quarterback is the top priority, but with Davante Adams, Jakobi Meyers, and Michael Mayer as the top pass catchers and possibly Josh Jacobs returning to lead the backfield, the talent is there for the Raider’s offense to thrive.

Raiders open to bringing back Josh Jacobs ‘depending on the price’

Aside from quarterback, the potential return of Josh Jacobs is the other big question surrounding the Raiders offense. Especially if the team has a young quarterback under center, a strong run game is necessary, and Jacobs has proven more than capable of providing that.

Jacobs has said he is open to a return, and according to recent reports, the team is interested in bringing him back as well, but only if the price is right. Considering Jacobs sat out all of training camp last year in hopes of a new long-term contract, exactly what that right price is will be interesting to see. Regardless, there will be some serious conversations had this offseason
