Raiders' two recent top 30 visits give a little insight into what the team may be considering in Round 1 of the 2025 NFL Draft

The Las Vegas Raiders are nearing the 2025 NFL Draft faster than we all realize, and while most of the work in free agency is done, there are still some pressing needs. Obviously there is a need for another wide receiver, but there are others as well.

With how many big-name wide receivers there are still available that fit what the Raiders need, they could very well still obtain one through free agency. They have plenty of cap space and are a formidable destination for receivers to go to now with Pete Carroll running the show and Geno Smith throwing the rock around.

But just because the offense was terrible last year and the defense was good, doesn't mean the defense doesn't need some attention. It most certainly does, and if the Raiders' best player available at pick No. 6 is a defensive player, we could see that guy end up in Silver and Black. For all we know, it could be a guy like defensive tackle Mason Graham, or even cornerback Will Johnson.

On Sunday, we figured out that the Raiders have added two names to their top 30 visit list, which means it's two of the 30 allotted pre-draft visits that teams have. And this means we can infer that these two guys the Raidera are hugely interested in. You have to think, they only get 30 of these visits and two were used on these two guys. And, both are cornerbacks.

Raiders have top 30 visits with Will Johnson and Benjamin Morrison

Will Johnson played cornerback for the University of Michigan starting in 2022. As a freshman, he earned a spot in the lineup, playing some pretty significant snaps for a big-time team. By his sophomore year, he was a top defender, shutting down receivers and helping Michigan’s defense stay strong. He’s seen as a top prospect for the 2025 NFL Draft, and maybe a top three cornerback in the draft behind Travis Hunter and Jahdae Barron. He's projected to go near the top 10 picks, or even top 15 if something crazy in the draft happens.

Benjamin Morrison was a cornerback at Notre Dame, starting in 2022. As a freshman, he tied a school record with six interceptions. In 2023, his sophomore year, he had three interceptions and 10 pass breakups, nearly winning a major award. His junior year in 2024 ended early due to a hip injury after six games, but he still showed great talent. He’s expected to be a first-round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.

The Raiders like both of them and this tells me they have an idea of what they want to do in the draft. Now, whether that can be executed or not is a different story. But, it lets you know that they likely want a CB in this draft.
