Raiders Under Contract: DE Janarius Robinson
USA TODAY Sports

Las Vegas Raiders defensive end Janarius Robinson got off to a slow start in his NFL career, but when granted an opportunity with the Raiders this past season, he showed signs of potential to come.

Robinson played the final six games of the season for Las Vegas, making starts in Week 14 and Week 15. He recorded a sack in his first-career start. The following week, he tallied three combined tackles in the Raiders' 63-21 trouncing of the Los Angeles Chargers.

Robinson would finish the 2023 season with eight combined tackles, one for a loss, a sack, and two quarterback hits.

The Raiders signed Robinson to their practice squad on Aug. 31. Prior to Las Vegas, he had been with the Philadelphia Eagles since September of 2022. He was released by the club as part of roster cuts back in August.

Robinson was originally a fourth-round pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. He was selected by the Minnesota Vikings before being placed on IR before the start of the 2021 season.

Robinson has a year left on a two-year, $1.8-million deal with the Raiders. Injuries have limited Robinson in his young career, but the 24-year-old defensive end gave Las Vegas glimpses of a solid backup edge rusher this season.

In order for Robinson to have a breakout contract year in 2024, he will need to stay healthy. If the Raiders choose to carry his late-season snaps into next season, the rest is up to him to make the most of it.

Robinson played collegiately at Florida State, where he had four active seasons (redshirted in 2016).

From February 27 to March 4, 2024, the NFL Scouting Combine will be held at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Ind.

The NFL Draft will be held in Detroit, Mich., on April 25-27, 2024. The Las Vegas Raiders currently hold the No. 13 overall pick.
