Las Vegas Raiders defensive tackle Marquan McCall was just one of two defensive tackles the club signed to reserve/future contracts last month.

The Raiders added McCall to their practice squad back in December. It had been almost four months since he was on an NFL roster.

The 24-year-old defensive tackle was signed by the Carolina Panthers as an undrafted free agent from Kentucky in 2022. He played 16 games in his rookie season, totaling 15 combined tackles, two for losses, and a quarterback hit.

McCall was then waived during 2023 training camp. He was claimed off waivers by the New England Patriots the very next day but was then waived the day after that due to a failed physical.

The 6-foot-3, 345-pound defensive tackleĀ is currently on a one-year contract worth $915,000. McCall has some competition ahead of him in the Raiders' defensive tackle room, but he has shown in his young career that he has the potential to be a valuable practice squad player.

McCall played four seasons at Kentucky before going undrafted. He played a total of 40 games, including 11 starts, eight of which were in his senior season. He unfortunately missed four games that year due to a lower extremity injury, but that did not keep him from forgoing his final season of eligibility.

That 2021 season, McCall and Kentucky finished with a 10-3 record. The Wildcats defeated Iowa, the 2021 Big Ten title runner up, 20-17 in the Cheez-It Citrus Bowl.

McCall ended his college career with 57 combined tackles, 10 for losses, 1.5 sacks, a forced fumble, and a pass defensed.

From February 27 to March 4, 2024, the NFL Scouting Combine will be held at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Ind.

The NFL Draft will be held in Detroit, Mich., on April 25-27, 2024. The Las Vegas Raiders currently hold the No. 13 overall pick.
